Biography

Prior to joining Gurr Brande & Spendlove, PLLC, James was an attorney at JensenBayles, LLP from 2006-2020, where he developed a civil litigation practice that includes large, complex, high profile cases, including construction defect, insurance defense, estate and trust litigation, real estate, as well as business and commercial litigation. James is also involved in the legal community, as treasurer of the Southern Utah Bar Association from 2007 to 2010 and again in 2016, and President of the Southern Utah Bar Association in 2017.

James obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Utah State University. After which he received a Juris Doctorate from George Mason University, School of Law in Arlington Virginia. He is a member of the Utah Bar Association, Southern Utah Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

James has received the recognition of his peers in the legal community, holding an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale-Hubble and voted by other lawyers in Utah as one of Utah’s Legal Elite in the area of Civil Litigation. He has also taught legal training to other attorneys on issues including disputes over trusts and estates, real estate, and construction defect.

James is a graduate of Hurricane High School. He and his family enjoy taking advantage of all of the outdoor and off road opportunities available in Southern Utah. He also has an interest in anything with a motor and wheels.
